Westvaal: South Africa’s Trusted Regional Automotive Partner
Westvaal is a proudly South African motor group with a legacy built on customer care, community roots, and a strong multi-brand dealership footprint. With decades of experience in motor retail and servicing, Westvaal continues to grow as a respected name in mobility across South Africa’s urban and rural landscapes.
Early Foundations: 1975–1980s
1975: Westvaal was founded as a single dealership in the town of Barberton, Mpumalanga. From its earliest days, the group focused on delivering reliable vehicles and trustworthy service to local communities.
Throughout the late 1970s and 1980s, Westvaal steadily expanded into neighbouring towns and provinces, building a reputation for excellence in automotive retail and aftersales service.
Expansion & Dealer Network Growth: 1990s–2000s
During the 1990s, Westvaal extended its reach into the North West, Limpopo, Gauteng, and the Free State, securing representation for leading automotive brands such as Isuzu, Opel, and Chevrolet.
The early 2000s saw further diversification of the brand portfolio and investment in state-of-the-art service centres and parts distribution, allowing Westvaal to better serve both private and fleet customers across a wider geographic footprint.
Strategic Partnerships and Development: 2000s–2010s
Westvaal formed strong relationships with manufacturers like General Motors, later transitioning smoothly as GM exited the South African market. The group retained and grew its Isuzu footprint and began adding new-generation brands such as Volkswagen, Suzuki, and Hyundai.
This era also saw the introduction of advanced customer service models, digital platforms, and long-term community engagement programs.
Strengthening the Group: 2010s to Present
Westvaal evolved into a fully integrated automotive group encompassing:
Motor Retail & Distribution
Vehicle Servicing & Genuine Parts
Fleet and Business Sales
Pre-Owned Vehicle Sales
Finance & Insurance (F&I) Services
Today, Westvaal operates over 25 dealerships across seven provinces, representing a diverse mix of OEMs including Toyota, Volkswagen, Isuzu, Suzuki, Hyundai, Opel, Peugeot, Citroën, and more.
The company employs over 1,000 staff and continues to invest in skills development, technological innovation, and customer-centric infrastructure.
