If you're shopping around for a B-segment vehicle, you may want to want to read about the new Citroen C3 before you go any further. It was launched recently, and what you get for the price is what might win you over.


As you may or may not know, brands like Jeep, Alfa Romeo, Opel, and Citroen were all taken over by a global company called Stellantis, which to their credit, has been doing a great job in building and expanding these brands. A few weeks ago, they launched the Jeep Grand Cherokee 5-seater, and this week it was the turn of the new Citroen C3. It comes with a new look, which follows Citroen's new design language and takes cues from its big brother the Citroen C5. Stellantis South Africa says one of the things that people prioritise in this segment is style. As a result, they focused on that with the new C3 – you can order it in a single solid colour or the funkier version with a two-tone roof. Four colours are available to choose from, but from what we've seen when we drove the vehicles at the launch, orange or a combination of orange and something else seems to be the winner. The C3 can also be enhanced by the optional styling pack which adds things like chrome details, a rear skid plate and a spoiler for just R2200, depending on the pack you choose.


With SUVs being the flavour of the decade, the new Citroen C5 was designed to give off SUV vibes with its raised ride height, roof rails and high seating position. People seem to love the SUV/crossover look and feel.


Interior layout

Let's talk about the inside since this is where you'll be spending most of your time. Again, Citroen chose to focus on the things that matter to the typical buyer in this segment. You get auto-down front and rear windows, steering wheel controls, a height-adjustable driver's seat, and a 10-inch media screen as standard. Now if you aren't familiar with this measurement unit, simply put, the C3's media screen is considerably large and has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The wireless functionality of these two apps is generally found in more expensive vehicles, so kudos to Citroen. Its interior trim is as youthful as its outward appearance, giving you the option of an anodized orange or grey finish on the dashboard panels.
