Nissan South Africa staffer beats off the competition to be the best in-house ambassador

Zolile Dweba has been named Nissan South Africa’s top internal ambassador, beating his colleagues, to win a weekend away in the Nissan Navara Pro4-X Warrior, by Premcar.

The competition, which began late last year offered Nissan staff the opportunity to drive the Navara Warrior for an entire weekend based on social media content they had to create to amplify the brand. From there, 10 were selected and given the structure of a TV advertisement to work off to create their own advertisement.

“We have always believed that our two greatest assets are our people and our products,” explains Nissan Africa head of communications, brand and customer experience, Ramy Mohareb. “This project gave us a wonderful opportunity to showcase both and have a lot of fun the in the process.”

For Dweba, a maintenance coordinator in the body shop, the prize of having a weekend’s use of the Navara Pro 4 X Warrior by Premcar, was worth all the effort.

“We spend our lives building these incredible vehicles, and hardly get a chance to drive them, so to get the car for that weekend was wonderful. When I took it home, everyone wanted to more, they all wanted to me to give them a ride around the neighbourhood,” he says.

A lifelong fan of the brand, who grew up fascinated by the Nissan Skyline and determined to drive a Qashqai or a Pathfinder, Dweba owns a Magnite. The Navara Warrior by Premcar exceeded all his expectations and he got a second chance to enjoy the vehicle when he cruised past the other finalists with his winning entry.

“I’m not really a social media expert, so it was a bit of a challenge making the video and I had to think of something that would catch the eye of my followers,” he says.

As a keen soccer fan, he thought it would make perfect sense to blend his love for Orlando Pirates and the Navara Warrior into one story line. He was right, his video would amass almost 8 500 likes and be watched 47 000 times. His prize was to take his partner away to Sun City in Pilanesberg for an all expenses paid weekend – in the Navara Warrior.

“It’s a beast with a massive heart, perfect in every way, especially for South African roads,” he says, referring to the notorious potholed surfaces leading to the resort in the North West, “the safety and the comfort are unbelievable.”

“We’ve always believed our people are our best ambassadors,” says Mohareb,  “and Zolile proves exactly that; unfeigned, authentic and proud – and we are very lucky to have many more like them.”

South Africa’s terrain is unique and diverse, and with its 2.5l DDTI inter-cooled turbo diesel engine, producing 140kW of power and 450Nm of torque, the Navara Warrior is built specifically for you to explore it all. It boasts enhanced off-road performance and durability, including a suspension lift, wide track and high ground clearance and fiercer exterior.

Its tough exterior is designed to withstand harsh driving conditions first and foremost. Amongst others, it features unique 17″ Warrior alloy wheels to accommodate its larger, wider tyres, and a redesigned tow bar to carry a full-size spare.

For drivers’ peace of mind, the Warrior comes loaded with an array of advanced safety features. Chief among these is Nissan’s Intelligent Mobility suite, which includes forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, and an intelligent around-view monitor with an off-road mode that delivers a complete bird’s-eye perspective of the vehicle’s surroundings.

The Navara Pro4-X Warrior, by Premcar, is available through Nissan’s nationwide dealer network and compliments the company's already impressive 4x4 lineup.
