Killarney International Raceway hosted the first South African national circuit racing champions of 2025 this past Saturday at the Cape Town Extreme Festival, powered by Coca-Cola. While several championships were secured, the fate of others will now be decided at the season finale at Zwartkops on 25 October.
In a highlight for local supporters, Cape Town’s own Tate Bishop sealed the SATC SupaCup title. Driving a Volkswagen SupaPolo, Bishop took third place for the day, navigating a competitive field to claim the championship.

Jason Coetzee, Nabil Abdool, and Mario da Souza each secured a title in their respective GR Corolla categories. In an unusual turn of events, Clinton Seller secured a consecutive ZX10 Masters championship title despite not competing over the weekend.
The South African Touring Cars category saw a strong performance from the Gazoo Toyota team, which achieved an overall 1-2-3 finish for the day with Michael van Rooyen, Sa’aad Variawa, and Nathi Msimanga. However, van Rooyen’s two race wins were not sufficient to secure the championship, leaving him four points short. Only Jagger Robertson retains a mathematical chance to challenge him at the final round.

The Extreme Supercars, on Dunlop tyres, provided some of the day’s fastest racing. Charl Arangies in a Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO won an intensely close first race ahead of Jonathan du Toit’s Lamborghini. Du Toit later took victory in the second heat, with Arangies ultimately securing the overall day’s win.
The new Investchem MSA4 single-seater category made its debut at Killarney. Mikel Bezuidenhout strengthened his championship position by winning both races from pole position, keeping the title chase open against KC Ensor-Smith.
The Astron Energy Polo Cup delivered three closely contested heats. Rory Atkinson emerged from the weekend with a four-point championship advantage over Mo Karodia after a series of races that saw wins for Atkinson, Ethan Coetzee, and Hannes Scheepers.
Further action came from the Volkswagen Rookie Cup, where a clash between championship leaders Josh Moore and Chris Tait in the first race opened the door for Uzair Khan to take victory. Moore and Tait are now tied at the top of the standings heading into the finale.
The Toyota Gazoo Cup crowned its champions: Jason Coetzee (GR86 Rookie Cup), Nabil Abdool (GR Yaris Media Cup), and Mario da Souza (GR Corolla Dealer Cup).
With Clinton Seller absent, Trevor Westman secured a double victory in the SunBet ZX10 Masters class.
