Changan South Africa has added a service plan to the manual version of its Alsvin sedan, meaning every model in the range now comes with the benefit as standard. The 1.4-litre manual transmission model will now include a 5-year/75 000 km service plan, bringing it in line with the 1.5-litre automatic, which already carried the plan from launch.

For buyers, the move means fewer surprises when it comes to maintenance. Services will be carried out at authorised dealers by trained technicians using genuine parts, and the costs are fixed in advance. That takes some of the guesswork out of owning a car, particularly for drivers who clock up high mileage or rely on their vehicle for work.

The Alsvin is available with either a 1.4-litre or 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, both of which are geared towards keeping running costs low while still delivering decent responsiveness around town and on the open road.

By folding the service plan into the 1.4-litre model, Changan has effectively lowered the total cost of ownership over the medium term. Owners no longer need to budget for major service bills in the first five years, and the financial planning around vehicle upkeep becomes more predictable.

Marinus Venter, Country Manager at Jameel Motors South Africa, said the decision to include the service plan on the 1.4-litre model was driven by what buyers are actually looking for. He noted that customers are paying more attention to what a car will cost them over the long run, not just the showroom price, and that adding the plan makes the Alsvin a more straightforward choice.
