This Saturday marks a pivotal moment for Dunlop Racing as the Kyalami Circuit hosts the National and Regional Extreme Festival, presented by Coca-Cola. With nine out of ten competing classes relying solely on Dunlop tyres—and the majority of the tenth class following suit—the event underscores the brand’s stronghold in South African motorsport.
Joanne de Freitas, Dunlop’s National Marketing Manager, emphasised the event’s importance: “The Extreme Festival represents a key milestone for our team. Having nearly every category on Dunlop tyres reflects both the trust competitors place in our products and our commitment to innovation through racing.” She acknowledged the operational demands, noting Dunlop’s dedicated Race Service Team will be on-site to support all participants.

Newcomers and National Contenders
A highlight of the National races will be the debut of the Investchem MSA4 single-seater series, fielding 14 new cars. De Freitas welcomed the addition: “The MSA4’s arrival rounds out our portfolio of national categories running on Dunlop.” Established classes such as Extreme SuperCars, SA Touring Cars, and the Toyota Gazoo Racing Cup will also feature, alongside regional entrants like the Dunlop V8 Supercars and BMW M Performance Parts Race Series.

Rivalries to Watch
The Investchem MSA4’s maiden race promises unpredictability, though veterans like KC Ensor-Smith and Alex Vos are expected to lead the charge. In Extreme Supercars, rookie Brad Liebenberg faces seasoned competitors including Charl Arangies in a Porsche 911 GT3 and Jonathan du Toit’s Lamborghini Huracán.
Tournament dynamics have shifted in SA Touring Cars, where Keegan Campos steps in for Anthony Pretorius. Meanwhile, SupaCup competitors Tate Bishop and Charl Visser aim to defend their Cape Town victory against Volkswagen’s Jonathan Mogotsi and Jason Loosemore.
Regional Showdowns
Regional categories add further intrigue. The Dunlop V8 Supercars will see Warren Lombard and Ben Morgenrood’s Mustangs battle Thomas Reib’s Lumina, while the BMW M Performance Parts Race Series splits focus across multiple classes. In the ATE VW Challenge, 17-year-old Jayden Goosen challenges veteran Wayne Masters.
Event Schedule
Practice sessions begin Thursday, with qualifying on Friday and full racing from Saturday morning. “This festival is a cornerstone of South Africa’s motorsport calendar,” de Freitas added. “From the track action to off-circuit entertainment, it’s an unmissable weekend.”
Gates open at 07:00 on Saturday, with tickets available at Kyalami’s entrance or via Computicket.
