The latest AMG G 63 strengthens its position in the performance off-road segment with a refreshed powertrain, advanced suspension, and design upgrades. Under the bonnet lies a 4,0-litre V8 biturbo engine paired with 48-volt mild-hybrid technology. The system generates 430 kW and 850 Nm of torque, aided by an integrated starter-generator that briefly adds 15 kW and 200 Nm. Accelerating from 0 to 100 km/h in 4,4 seconds (4,3 seconds with the optional AMG Performance Package), the G 63 combines brute force with agility.
A standout feature is the new AMG Active Ride Control suspension. Replacing traditional stabilisers with hydraulic roll stabilisation, it enhances cornering precision and comfort by adapting to road conditions in real time. The system also improves off-road articulation, ensuring optimal wheel contact on uneven terrain. Drivers can further tailor dynamics using five on-road and three off-road driving modes, including ‘Sand,’ ‘Trail,’ and ‘Rock.’
Inside, the G 63 debuts MBUX infotainment, featuring a ‘Supersport’ display mode with a central tachometer and telemetry data. Design touches include a nappa leather steering wheel, AMG-branded accents, and optional carbon-fibre trim. Externally, the model sports adaptive LED headlights, 20-inch alloy wheels, and an exclusive MANUFAKTUR hyper blue magno paint option.
Priced at R 4 415 916, the G 63 also benefits from cross-model updates such as improved connectivity and an expanded suite of driver aids.

Marking the G-Class’s electric debut, the G 580 with EQ Technology pairs classic design cues with innovative engineering. Its quad-motor setup delivers 432 kW and 1 164 Nm, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in 4,7 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h. Each wheel is independently controlled, enabling virtual differential locks for unmatched off-road traction.
The 116 kWh battery, housed within a reinforced ladder frame, offers up to 473 km (WLTP) of range. Charging peaks at 200 kW DC, achieving a 10%–80% charge in 32 minutes. Off-road credentials include 850 mm wading depth, 35-degree side-slope stability, and a Low Range gear reduction for challenging terrain. Unique functions like G-Turn (tank turn) and G-Steering (reduced turning circle) enhance manoeuvrability.
Visually, the electric G-Class retains its boxy silhouette but adds aerodynamic tweaks, such as air curtains and a black-panel grille with animated lighting. The Edition One launch model features exclusive paint options, blue accents, and a silver pearl/black leather interior.
Pricing starts at R 3 823 457, rising to R 4 066 900 for the Edition One.

Both models feature adaptive damping, MULTIBEAM LED headlights, and MBUX infotainment with augmented reality navigation. The G 580’s ‘G-ROAR’ sound experience adds an acoustic edge, while the G 63’s AMG Traction Pro system optimises torque distribution off-road.
Mercedes-Benz emphasises that the electric variant not only matches its combustion counterpart in capability but surpasses it in areas like fording depth. The G 580’s battery casing ensures durability, while its low centre of gravity aids stability.
