East London, South Africa – Mercedes-Benz South Africa (MBSA), in partnership with the Gift of the Givers Foundation (GOTG), has once again joined forces to support with the continued development and upliftment of Gqala Primary School in Tsholomnqa, Eastern Cape, through the provision of ablution facilities.
This latest donation builds on support previously provided to the school following the gale-force winds in 2023 that impacted the Eastern Cape and Gqala Primary School. Extending these relief and recovery efforts, MBSA and GOTG returned in 2026 to complete the final phase of the project, which included the construction of new ablution facilities for learners at the school. These facilities provide hygienic sanitation, contributing to a more dignified and conducive learning environment, while positively enhancing learners’ daily experience and overall well-being.
Commenting on the initiative, Taryn Woodbridge, Chief Executive Officer at Mercedes-Benz South Africa, said: “Our investment in Gqala Primary School reflects our belief that meaningful change begins with access to the right resources and infrastructure. Our donation uplifts communities and strengthens the foundation for quality teaching and learning. At Mercedes-Benz South Africa, we are deeply committed to creating environments where learners feel safe, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.”
“Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz South Africa reflects the power of shared purpose in driving meaningful change. Through this collaboration, we have been able to respond directly to a critical need within the school and the broader community. Access to proper sanitation is fundamental to the dignity, health and well-being of every learner. Together, we are not only addressing immediate needs but helping to create an enabling environment where learners are better positioned to succeed,” said Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, Founder of the Gift of the Givers Foundation.
Beyond building vehicles, MBSA continues to invest in more resilient communities by supporting spaces where learning and opportunity can grow. Through partnerships like this, the company remains committed to helping create lasting positive change for future generations.
