This was my first time driving an electric car, and I have to say—it completely changed my expectations. I always knew I’d end up driving one at some point, but I honestly thought it would feel a bit overwhelming because of how modern and tech-focused everything is. I expected a bit of a learning curve, but surprisingly, it felt the complete opposite.

Even though the car has three screens and almost no physical buttons, everything is laid out in a way that just makes sense. It actually feels like Audi designed the whole experience to be as intuitive and driver-friendly as possible. The screens are clear, responsive, and not confusing at all—you don’t feel like you’re digging through menus while driving. Within minutes, I felt completely comfortable, like I had been driving the car for a while already.

The driving experience itself is honestly something else. From the moment you start moving, you can feel how smooth and quiet it is—there’s no engine noise, just this calm, effortless glide. When you accelerate, the response is instant, and for an electric car, it really has impressive power. It doesn’t feel slow or restricted at all—it actually feels quick, controlled, and confident on the road.

The braking is just as impressive. It’s smooth, precise, and very responsive, which makes the whole driving experience feel balanced. Everything works together so well—from acceleration to braking—it just feels seamless. Normally, when I try a new car, I need time to adjust to how it handles, but with this one, there was no struggle at all. It felt natural from the very beginning.

In terms of design and space, it really gives you the best of both worlds. It has that sleek, sporty look on the outside, but inside it feels like a proper SUV—spacious, comfortable, and practical. There’s more than enough legroom and headroom, even for taller drivers, and when the car is full, it still feels open and not cramped. The boot space is also generous, making it perfect for everyday use or even longer road trips without worrying about space.

Driving at night was another standout for me. The visibility is excellent, and the headlights make it easy to see clearly without any strain. The ambient lighting inside the car adds a really premium feel—it creates a calm, modern atmosphere that just makes night driving more enjoyable.

One thing I would definitely recommend is doing a bit of research before getting an electric car—especially when it comes to charging. The process itself is simple, but if you’ve never done it before, it can take a few minutes to figure out. Once you understand it, though, it’s easy. Knowing where charging stations are in advance also makes a big difference.

Luckily, CHANGECARS has a helpful tool to locate charging stations: https://www.changecars.co.za/ev-charging-stations
Using something like this makes planning your trips a lot easier and gives you peace of mind when driving longer distances.

If you plan your routes properly, the experience is smooth—and one of the biggest advantages is that you won’t be spending money on fuel anymore, which is a huge bonus.
