At the recent 2025 New York International Auto Show, Subaru of America, Inc. showcased the latest iteration of its adventure-ready Outback: the 2026 Subaru Outback Wilderness. As part of the brand’s rugged Wilderness line-up, the vehicle retained its 24,1 cm of ground clearance while sporting a redesigned exterior, refreshed cabin styling, and tweaked on- and off-road performance.
Under the bonnet, the Outback Wilderness features a turbo-charged 2,4-litre Subaru Boxer engine paired with symmetrical all-wheel drive, X-MODE terrain management and all-terrain tyres. The suspension system incorporates electronically controlled dampers, which adjusts in real time using acceleration sensors to balance stability on rough surfaces with on-road comfort. Updates to the symmetrical all-wheel-drive system allowed quicker centre differential lock-up and reduced wheel spin during off-road excursions.
Visually, the model stood out with matte-black wheel arches, hexagonal LED fog lights and copper-finish accents on the roof rails and grille. Inside, water-resistant StarTex upholstery, ventilated Nappa leather seats and a 360-degree camera system added practicality.
