A stunning Mercedes-Benz 540K roadster was the standout attraction at the 2026 George Old cars Show this past Sunday in the Garden Route city and was a credit to the organisers, the SCOCC who worked tirelessly to make this one of the most enjoyable attractions on the classic car circuit in SA, probably only second to the Pretoria Cars in the Park which has a huge turnout each year in August.
What the George Show has going for it is a lovely mountain backdrop and a fine mix of local classics, with a spinkling of superb South African classics on the mail field. These included such notables as a 1958 Aston Martin DB2/4 Mk III, a 1958 Porsche 356B Cabriolet, a Ferrari Dino and many more.
This celebration of old timers was held in perfect partly cloudy weather in mid February, following a thunderstorm just before he bulk of the exhibits were arriving. Here are some of our favourites.
