JAC Motors South Africa has added two T9 2,0-litre CTi Black Edition 4x4 models to its T-Series range and the new derivatives are available in Hunter and Super Lux specifications.The Hunter delivers 144 kW and 487 Nm, while the Super Lux produces 125 kW and 444 Nm. The expansion forms part of the company’s Decade campaign, which marks almost 10 years of operations in South Africa.
The Black Edition is based on the T9 Super Lux 4x4 and gains a more rugged appearance than other models in the line-up. It can be identified by a black radiator grille, matt black 18-inch alloy wheels, roof rails, exterior mirrors, door handles and exterior trim, all finished in black. The interior uses black leather-enhanced upholstery, which the company says combines luxury, durability and ease of cleaning.

The T9 Hunter Black Edition is aimed at performance-oriented buyers and carries Hunter-branded decals on the sides and tailgate. Standard equipment includes branded nudge and style bars, a tonneau cover and a tow bar, all included in the retail price. Branded headrests and heavy-duty floor carpets complete the specification.
The T9 uses a 2,0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel engine with direct injection, common-rail technology, an intercooler and an electrical variable geometry turbocharger. It is paired with a ZF eight-speed automatic transmission and offers Sport, Normal, Eco and Snow driving modes. Combined-cycle fuel consumption is quoted at 7,8 l/100 km.
A centre-console dial allows the driver to engage 4WD at speeds of up to 80 km/h. Off-road ability is supported by low-range functionality and a rear electronic differential lock. The braked towing capacity is 3 500 kg.

JAC Motors has confirmed that its new T9 PHEV will launch locally in the fourth quarter of 2026, following its global launch. It combines a 2,0-litre turbo-petrol engine with electric motors on the front and rear axles and delivers a combined 360 kW and 674 Nm. A 31,2 kWh battery provides an electric driving range of up to 100 km. The T9 PHEV supports onboard charging and can charge from 15% to 80% at a DC fast charger in 30 minutes.
The T9’s retail price includes a 5-year/200 000 km manufacturer’s warranty, a 7-year/100 000 km service plan and 24-hour roadside assistance for 5 years/200 000 km. The first service is scheduled at 10 000 kilometres, followed by services every 15 000 kilometres.
