OMODA has confirmed the local introduction of its new C7 SUV, a model positioned between the C5 and C9 in its line-up, and the range includes two petrol models alongside a plug-in hybrid variant, with prices starting at R 539 900.
The central feature of the new C7 is the available SHS plug-in hybrid powertrain. This system combines a 1,5-litre turbo-charged petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a combined output of 255 kW and 525 Nm of torque. It uses a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission and is equipped with an 18,4 kWh LFP battery.

This setup allows for an all-electric driving range of 105 km and a total claimed range of approximately 1 200 km. The battery can be charged from 30% to 80% in 20 minutes using a 40 kW fast charger.
For buyers considering a conventional engine, the C7 1,6 TGDI derivative features a turbo-charged 1,6-litre petrol engine producing 145 kW and 290 Nm, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Its fuel consumption is claimed at 7,5 l/100 km.
Exterior styling includes a frameless X-shaped grille, slim LED headlights, and standard 19-inch wheels, with the SHS model receiving 20-inch alloys. The interior offers a wheelbase of 2 720 mm, providing legroom for passengers. Boot space is 614 litres in the petrol model and 537 litres in the SHS. The cabin is fitted with a 15,6-inch infotainment screen, an 8,88-inch digital instrument cluster, and features such as dual-zone climate control and electrically adjustable front seats.

The C7 is equipped with a suite of advanced driver-assistance systems, including a 540-degree panoramic camera, adaptive cruise control, blind spot detection and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection.

The C7 1.6 TGDI Luxury is priced at R 539 900, the Elegance at R 589 900, and the C7 SHS plug-in hybrid at R 689 900. The vehicle line is backed by a 1-million kilometre/10-year engine warranty for the first owner. A 5-year/75 000 km service plan is standard, along with a 5-year/150 000 km factory warranty for the petrol models and a 7-year/200 000 km warranty for the SHS. The hybrid battery carries a 10-year/unlimited kilometre warranty.
