Cars in the Park, showcasing South Africa’s rich automotive history will be back at Zwartkops Raceway on August 3. This year ALL THINGS MOTORING is the proud sponsor of this stand out event organised by the Pretoria Old Motor Club (POMC).
With enough display area to house 2 500 cars, event organiser Frik Kraamwinkel is excited about the responses so far and says the likelihood is for around 130 car clubs and associations to exhibit.

“We will again have our Special Invitation section, this year split in pre-1945 cars and post-1945 to ensure the older cars have the best possible exposure,” he says. ”We will also be inviting them for a drive around the circuit on August 2.”
In addition to the mouth-watering array of classic, vintage, veteran, special-interest cars and trucks on display, there will be around 160 stalls offering food, memorabilia and other products along with displays from some auto dealers such as Lazarus Ford.
Michael Pashut host of the ALL THINGS MOTORING TV show and founder of the brand had this to say, “If we could choose any event to sponsor it would be Cars in the Park. We have put our money where our mouth is and look forward to working with Frik Kraamwinkel and his exceptional team at POMC”

POMC was established in 1966. The first Cars in the Park was held in 1980 at the POMC Club grounds in Keuning Street Silverton. Nine cars of POMC club members were displayed. From 1982, other one make clubs were also invited to display their vehicles. By 2005 more than 80 clubs displayed about 2 000 vehicles and the POMC grounds became too small to accommodate any further growth. It was decided to move the event in 2006 to the Zwartkops Race Track.
Cars that show up every year range from vintage machines dating back as early as 1904 to classics from the 1950s and 1960s, hot rods, muscle cars, dragsters, customised motorcycles and hot turbo-charged street machines. It is this varied mix of motorised adoration that makes the event so special.
