The chase for space has a new entrant in the form of the Chery Tiggo Pro 4 Panel Van, marking the company’s entry into the light commercial market with a vehicle based on the Tiggo 4 Pro compact SUV.

The Tiggo 4 Pro Panel Van is fully homologated as an LCV, enabling VAT-registered businesses to reclaim VAT on the vehicle’s purchase. It features a spacious cargo area, achieved by removing the rear seats and installing a secure partition. The load space measures 1 387 mm in length, 1 255 mm in width and 941 mm in height, offering 1 500 litres of capacity. Access is made easy via both the tailgate and rear doors.

Buyers can choose between a six-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and both models are backed by Chery's 10-year/1-million km warranty.

Siphiwe Nkutha, Chery South Africa’s National Fleet Sales Manager, says: “The Tiggo 4 Pro Panel Van builds on the strengths of our popular compact SUV, offering an affordable alternative to traditional bakkies. It’s perfect for small businesses, couriers, security firms, and a wide range of industries.”

Despite being designed as a work vehicle, the Tiggo 4 Pro Panel Van is equipped with a range of premium features. These include keyless entry, 16-inch alloy wheels, LED daytime running lights, a 10,25-inch multimedia touchscreen (compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), electronic parking brake and cruise control.

In August 2024, Chery secured 5th place in the passenger-car segment and by the end of that month, the brand ranked 8th overall, with nearly 6% of the market share.

The Tiggo 4 Pro Panel Van is priced at R339 900 for the manual version and R374 900 for the CVT. Both models come with a 3-year/30 000 km service plan and a 5-year/150,000 km vehicle warranty.
