More power and new AWD option for mid-level Chery Tiggo 7 Pro

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max looks a bit more aggressive than its lesser siblings

The Chery Tiggo 7 Pro now goes to the Max, with the introduction of an all-wheel drive flagship alongside two additional derivatives carrying the Max designation.

Maxing out the power

Apart from the newly-available AWD system, the Tiggo 7 Pro Max receives an engine upgrade for the new high-end variants. The  1.5-litre turbo engine with 108 kW and 210 Nm remains on offer in the FWD Distinction and Executive models, and feature a CVT to transfer power to the front wheels only.

Opting for the Max version adds the larger engine from the Tiggo 8 Pro - a 1.6-litre turbo unit that boosts outputs to 145 kW and 290 Nm. This engine sends power to the wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with FWD being the default configuration but AWD becoming optional on the Tiggo 7 Pro Max Executive trim.

Gloss-black grille finish is the main front-end giveaway that this is a Tiggo 7 Pro Max.

Cosmetic enhancements

The Max variants look a little different too, with a new grille boasting an accentuated diamond pattern, made from a dark gloss black polycarbonate weave.

The lower sills and side intakes have been tweaked, and it gets new ‘Angel Wings’ LED headlamps with a crafty light-up sequence, both in the front and rear. As the sensors detect the key in hand, its LEDs lights perform a welcoming ‘symphony’. Visual upgrades extend to the 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, with a deep-dish pattern on the 2WD model and a 19-inch rim for the AWD.

The hi-res colour touchscreen infotainment system includes full smartphone mirroring.

Added equipment

The cabin is illuminated in ambient light courtesy of a stepless LED light ring, which stretches from end-to-end and offers a spectrum of 64 captivating hues, while the control centre has been redesigned to provide a seamless and intuitive experience.

The "290T" script on the Tiggo 7 Pro Max tailgate indicates this model's improved performance.

With a short-travel, light-touch gear lever and a selection knob for swift changes in driving mode, the New Tiggo 7 Pro Max places control at the driver’s fingertips, as luxury and comfort take centre stage with the inclusion of one-piece, perforated leather sport front seats, now equipped with electric adjustment for a personalised fit.

The enhanced air-conditioning system is now equipped with N95-level (pm 2.5) air purification capabilities and, for the New Tiggo 7 Pro Max in Executive trim, the automatic quality control system (AQS) offers negative ion air purification, ensuring the cleanest in-cabin air quality.

The rear seat has plenty of room, and rear passengers are treated to USB ports and their own air-con vents.

The New Tiggo 7 Pro Max comes equipped with eight airbags, anti-lock brakes and electronic stability control, with the Executive adding a level 2.5 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

The ADAS system features include: Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Rear Collision Warning (RCW), Driver Monitoring System (DMS), Multi-Collision Brake (MCB) and Lane Change Assist (LCA).

19-inch alloy wheels are standard on the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro Max AWD.
