Volkswagen has introduced two new engines to its latest Tiguan range: a 2,0-litre TDI diesel unit producing 110 kW and a 2,0-litre TSI petrol engine delivering 140 kW. Both powertrains come paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive.
Since its launch in August 2024, the Tiguan has sold 1 190 units and has been shortlisted for the 2025 SA Guild of Mobility Journalists Car of the Year (COTY) award, with the winner set to be revealed in May next year.

The diesel variant generates 340 Nm of torque between 1 750 r/min and 3 000 r/min, achieving 0-100 km/h in 9,4 seconds and a top speed of 207 km/h. The more powerful petrol engine offers 350 Nm across a broader 1 500 r/min to 4 400 r/min range, accelerating to 100 km/h in 6,5 seconds and reaching 225 km/h.
Both engines are available in Life and R-Line trims. The entry-level Life model includes 10-colour ambient lighting, fabric seats with a patterned ‘Life’ insert, a leather-wrapped multifunction steering wheel with paddle shifters, and 17-inch Bari alloy wheels. Exterior features include black roof rails, body-coloured bumpers and illuminated door handles.

The R-Line trim upgrades to sportier styling, with 19-inch Coventry wheels, gloss-black air intakes, chrome window trims and silver roof rails. Inside, it adds heated sports seats with massage functionality, a heated steering wheel, and 30-colour ambient lighting.

The new Volkswagen Tiguan comes standard with a 3-year/120 000 km warranty, - year / 90 000 km EasyDrive Service Plan including a 12 year anti corrosion warranty. The service interval is 15 000 km.
