Jetour South Africa has clarified the load-carrying specifications for its T1 and T2 vehicle ranges, following recent public discourse surrounding the initial homologated payload rating of 300 kilograms.
The automaker has confirmed that, after direct engagements with both Jetour Head Office and the National Regulator for Compulsory Specifications (NRCS), the approved payload capacity for the relevant model ranges has been revised upward. The new figure stands at 475 kilograms, inclusive of the driver.
This updated rating applies not only to new units rolling off showroom floors but also to existing T1 and T2 vehicles already in the hands of South African motorists, provided those models fall within the specifications covered by the NRCS approval.

In a statement, Jetour South Africa emphasised no mechanical, structural, or component modifications are necessary for either current or future vehicles to benefit from the revised rating. The increased capacity pertains to the vehicles in their existing mechanical and structural configuration, meaning owners of affected models are not required to undertake any technical adjustments.
The company is currently in discussion with relevant local licensing authorities to facilitate the formal implementation of the increased payload capacity for vehicles already in circulation. Customers will be updated as these engagements progress, with further communication expected once the administrative process with the authorities is concluded.
The development brings greater clarity to the payload capabilities of the popular SUV models, addressing earlier concerns while ensuring compliance with national standards. Jetour has reaffirmed its commitment to keeping its customer base informed through the duration of the regulatory alignment process.
