GQEBERHA – As Africa celebrates Africa month, ISUZU Motors South Africa has started shipping the first consignments of the new D-MAX from its Gqeberha plant to local dealerships and plans to further ship to authorised dealers across more than 30 African markets, including key markets such as Zimbabwe, Ivory Coast, Zambia, Mozambique, Botswana and Namibia.
Built in South Africa for Africa’s demanding operating conditions, the rollout reinforces ISUZU’s investment in African mobility through durable products, strong dealer partnerships and customer relationships that span generations. The rollout also highlights South Africa’s role as a strategic automotive manufacturing and export hub for the continent.
The arrival of the new D-MAX in dealerships across Africa is more than a product launch; it reflects ISUZU’s commitment to Moving the World – for You by delivering dependable mobility solutions that support economic growth, trade and community development across the continent.
Manufactured at ISUZU’s Gqeberha facility, which serves as a strategic export hub for sub-Saharan Africa, the new D-MAX has been engineered and tested for Africa’s diverse operating environments. Designed for industries ranging from agriculture and mining to construction and logistics, the vehicle combines durability, capability and reliability for demanding working conditions.
Key features include a high-tensile steel load box, reinforced tailgate with a unique centre hinge and locally developed underbody stone protection, engineered to deliver dependable performance in demanding African operating conditions.
“Africa Month is an important moment for us to reflect on the partnerships we have built across the continent, and the role ISUZU continues to play in enabling economic activity and mobility,” said Mava Landu, Department Executive: Revenue Generation for Rest of Africa Markets at ISUZU Motors South Africa.
“The shipment of the new D-MAX to our dealer partners across Africa demonstrates our confidence in the continent’s future. Through our dealer network, we are delivering a product that combines safety, durability and reliability to support the businesses, entrepreneurs and communities that keep Africa moving.” Said Lebo Rakgekola, Department Executive: Revenue Generation SACU
Central to ISUZU’s African strategy is its dealer network, which extends from major metropolitan centres to remote rural regions where reliable transport is essential. Supported by parts availability, technical expertise and aftersales infrastructure, these dealerships help customers maximise uptime and productivity in sectors critical to local economies.
For many customers across Africa, the relationship with ISUZU spans decades. Fleet operators who first invested in the iconic KB-series pick-up continue to rely on the brand today through the new D-MAX, reflecting ISUZU’s focus on long-term value, durability and trusted partnerships.
ISUZU’s investment in Africa extends beyond vehicle exports. The company continues to strengthen parts distribution, technical training and regional assembly operations, contributing to skills development, job creation and stronger supply chains in the markets where it operates.
With enhanced safety technologies, towing capability and a driver-focused cabin designed for long-distance travel, the new D-MAX is positioned to support Africa’s evolving transport and mobility needs, whether transporting goods across borders, supporting infrastructure projects or delivering essential services to under-served communities.
As Africa’s transport, logistics and infrastructure sectors continue to evolve, ISUZU says the new D-MAX is designed to support the businesses and communities powering the continent forward.
