From being the first ‘tap-and-go’ car on the local market, Leapmotor has upped the tech with a new app in South Africa, giving C10 REEV owners a smarter, more connected way to interact with their cars. Now, your smartphone is not just for calls—it is your key to the whole Leapmotor experience.
After Leapmotor’s debut in South Africa in 2025, this app is the next step in their plan to make owning a C10 REEV as seamless and digital as possible.

The C10 REEV is a family SUV that runs on pure electricity, but there is a twist: a 1,5-litre petrol engine acts as a generator, so you get up to 145 km of electric driving and a total range of 970 km, even in real-world South African conditions. The electric motor sits at the back, putting out 158 kW and 320 Nm, powered by a 28,4 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery. You can pick from two models—Style and Design—with prices starting at R759 900 and R799 900 (VAT included).
So, what is the deal with the app? For starters, you can unlock and access your car using your phone. No more fumbling for keys every morning. The app also lets you check your car’s status, get charging updates, and receive notifications—depending on how you set it up. If you are sharing the car, the main owner can add up to eight profiles and decide who gets access to which features.
The app takes over from the key card for unlocking, but you will still need the actual card to start the car. Or, if you prefer, punch in your security code and you are good to go.
Janus Janse van Rensburg, who heads up Marketing and Sales for Leapmotor at Stellantis South Africa, sums it up: “Launching this app is a big step in delivering a truly connected ownership experience here. People want digital convenience and now C10 REEV owners can manage their cars with real confidence.”

Getting started is straightforward. When you take delivery, the dealer securely registers your details. Download the app, verify your account, and scan a QR code on your car’s main screen to pair up. A personal PIN keeps everything secure, so only you control remote functions and vehicle access.
