Lexus South Africa has introduced a new hybrid variant to its flagship LX SUV line-up, the LX 700h Urban that slots into place below the Overtrail version.
The LX now offers three distinct grades: Overtrail, F Sport, and the newly launched Urban. The LX 700h Urban is positioned as the entry point into the brand's electrified flagship range, succeeding the previous VIP grade.

Powered by a 3,5-litre V6 twin-turbo hybrid system, the LX 700h Urban delivers a combined system output of 341 kW. The petrol engine contributes 305 kW and 650 Nm, supplemented by an electric motor adding 36 kW and 250 Nm. This is paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. For diesel clients, the LX 500d in F Sport and Overtrail grades remains available, producing 225 kW.
"The introduction of the LX 700h Urban is a direct response to market interest for a more attainable hybrid luxury SUV," says Glenn Crompton, Vice President of Marketing at Lexus South Africa. "It allows us to offer the advanced 1MT-HEV powertrain to a wider audience without compromising the core LX attributes of performance, comfort and durability."
The Urban grade is designed with a focus on refined on-road presence and everyday luxury. It features premium exterior finishes, including chrome and stainless steel details and rides on 22-inch alloy wheels. Inside, it offers Shimamoku wood trim and is configured as a seven-seater. In contrast, the Overtrail grade emphasises off-road capability with features such as multiple locking differentials and 18-inch wheels with all-terrain tyres.

The vehicle maintains a braked towing capacity of 3 500 kg. The exterior colour palette for the Urban includes White Quartz, Sonic Titanium, Manganese Luster, with Terrane Khaki and Graphite Black available to order.
The LX 700h Urban joins the existing local line-up, which comprises the LX 500d F Sport, LX 500d Overtrail, LX 700h F Sport and LX 700h Overtrail models.

The Lexus LX range boasts a standard 7-year/100 000km Warranty and Full Maintenance Plan. Service intervals are set at 10 000km or once a year, whichever comes first. LX 700h models come with an additional 8-year/195 000km hybrid battery warranty.
