JMC South Africa has launched the All New Vigus Single Cab Bakkie, a 4x2 manual derivative aimed squarely at fleet operators and independent contractors who need a working vehicle that does not compromise on performance or running costs. The brand is backed locally by the Salvador Caetano Group.
At the heart of the Vigus Single Cab is a 2,5-litre turbo-diesel engine that produces 123 kW of power at 3 400 rpm and 410 Nm of torque between 1 400 r/min and 2 400 r/min.
Load-carrying ability is a key part of the package. The cargo bed measures 2 310 mm in length and 1 595 mm in width, and comes with a factory spray-in bedliner as standard. Payload is rated at 1 000 kg, while braked towing capacity stands at 2 000 kg, with 750 kg available for unbraked trailers.

JMC has paired the diesel engine with a six-speed manual transmission and a 73-litre fuel tank, a combination tuned to keep fuel consumption in check and extend operational range, whether the vehicle is used for cross-provincial deliveries or stop-start city driving.
The chassis runs a double wishbone setup with coil springs at the front and leaf springs at the rear, with 210 mm of ground clearance, a 27-degree approach angle and a 22-degree departure angle. Standard safety equipment includes anti-lock braking, electronic brake-force distribution, dual front crash bags and rear parking sensors. The cabin is fitted with air-conditioning, Bluetooth connectivity and dual USB power ports.
