Toyota South Africa Motors has expanded its Corolla Cross line-up with the introduction of a Gazoo Racing-inspired derivative, the Corolla Cross GR-S. The new model joins the existing range of the compact SUV, which is assembled locally.
The GR-S variant features revisions to the exterior, interior and chassis, aimed at delivering a sportier character while retaining the practicality associated with the Corolla Cross nameplate.

At the front, the GR-S receives a black mesh grille, LED headlamps with sequential indicators and a skid plate. Side profile details include revised mouldings and newly designed 18-inch six-spoke machined alloy wheels. The rear adopts distinctive lighting elements, a blacked-out badge and a sculpted skid plate.
Inside, the cabin features black leather upholstery with red contrast stitching, red seatbelts and aluminium sports pedals. The centre console has been finished in piano black with red accents and is presented as a new layout across the broader Corolla Cross range.
A 10,1-inch display audio system and a 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster are included, along with a 360-degree panoramic view monitor, blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and a power back door operated by a kick sensor. Paddle shifters are available on the petrol variant, while an electric parking brake is fitted across the range. Seven crash bags come as standard.

The updated Corolla Cross range receives a higher-resolution display audio system with customisable display modes. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, with multi-touch functionality and improved Bluetooth connectivity.
The fully digitised instrument cluster, available on XR and GR-S grades, offers customisable themes.
Suspension tuning for the GR-S has been adjusted to provide more direct handling and road feedback while retaining ride comfort suited to South African conditions.
The Corolla Cross GR-S is assembled at Toyota’s Prospecton plant in KwaZulu-Natal. It is available in three bi-tone colour combinations: Glacier White, Chromium Silver and Arizona Red, each with a black roof.
