GWM has bolstered its off-road credentials with the launch of the TANK 300 Diesel, a robust yet fuel-sipping addition to its TANK 300 lineup. Crafted for South African explorers, outdoor enthusiasts, and those demanding practicality, this diesel variant merges rugged capability with plush SUV comforts, positioning itself as a versatile player in the competitive medium SUV market.
At its core is a 2,4-litre turbo-diesel engine, generating 135 kW and 480 Nm of torque, paired with a nine-speed electronic transmission. Built to tow up to three tonnes, the TANK 300 Diesel hauls trailers, caravans or boats, proving its mettle on worksites or cross-country escapades. With a claimed combined fuel consumption of 7,7 l/100 km, drivers can venture farther with fewer fuel stops.

Engineered to thrive beyond tarmac, the TANK 300 Diesel features seven all-terrain driving modes, low-speed four-wheel drive, off-road cruise control and Tank Turn technology. Its intelligent four-wheel drive system adapts torque distribution in real time, tackling steep inclines, mud, or rocky paths with precision. Electronically controlled differential locks on both axles engage within 200 milliseconds, redirecting full power to wheels with grip, while double wishbone front and multi-link rear suspension enhance stability over uneven ground.
Boasting a 33-degree approach angle, 34-degree departure angle, and 700 mm wading depth, the SUV shrugs off harsh landscapes. A reinforced off-road chassis with 160 mm x130 mm frame rails and torsional rigidity ensures durability, while a 360-degree camera system offers a ‘see-through’ view of obstacles below.
The TANK 300 Diesel’s exterior — muscular lines, a commanding grille and 18-inch chrome alloy wheels — hides a sanctuary of comfort. Inside, full-grain Nappa leather seats with heating, cooling and massage functions cater to front passengers, alongside an eight-way adjustable driver’s seat and heated steering wheel. Noise cancellation tech, double-layer acoustic glass, and a sealed engine compartment ensure a hushed ride, while 64-colour ambient lighting and dual-zone climate control add a touch of elegance.
