Two races and the Class B trophy for an overall win for the day fully justified an early morning start in bitterly cold conditions for Mike O’Sullivan and the ALL THINGS MOTORING INTERNATIONAL Honda Ballade at Red Star Raceway at the weekend.
The Mosport Honda, having its first outing since a lot of ‘elbow grease’ and late nights went into completely rebuilding the front end following a clash with the wall at Kyalami earlier in the season sailed through the morning qualifying looking even quicker than ever.

However, in the first heat one of those mysterious motor racing gremlins struck!
“The had a problem in turning left,” explained O’Sullivan. “Every time I turned left, it cut out, and only when I straightened out would the car resume. For the safety of other competitors, I moved out of their way but still managed to win the class because my competition had to retire completely.
“In the short time we had to the second race we just could not trace the problem, which is like to be something really small like a party loose wire hidden in the electrics. However, in the second heat, I learned to drive the car differently, so I didn't take a tight line into the corner. I went wide, drove wide and slowly around the outside and I won, not the fastest time around, but what the hell, I've got the trophy.”
There is now a few weeks break in Gauteng racing and O’Sullivan says it will give him enough time to hunt down the fault – we’ll keep you posted.
