Nissan's new Magnite compact SUV has made its South African debut, following its successful global launch in India last month. Originally introduced in 2020, the Magnite has proven popular, with 26 000 units sold since its local launch in June 2021 and Nissan Africa President Jordi Vila says: "The new Magnite has been a hit globally, and we're excited to introduce it to both right and left-hand-drive markets across Africa. It’s a key part of our growth strategy for the region."

The updated Magnite is available with a choice of two 1,0-litre engines, including a turbo-charged option, offering a blend of fuel efficiency and responsive performance. Customers can choose from three transmission options: a five-speed manual, an automated manual transmission (AMT) or a continuously variable transmission (CVT).
Riding on a Macpherson strut type suspension at the front and semi-independent coil springs at the rear, the Magnite seems capable 3nough todeal with local conditions.
Externally, the Magnite is revised with new LED headlights and taillights, alloy wheels and roof rails. Inside, it offers an enhanced driving experience with a configurable TFT display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and adjustable ambient lighting in four colours.

Additionally, the model has features such as remote engine start, walkaway lock and approach unlock functions. For added comfort, the Magnite is equipped with a cooled glove box and an air ioniser.
The Magnite's body is reinforced with high-tensile steel for added structural integrity. The updated model comes standard with six crash bags across all variants, along with an auto-dimming rearview mirror for improved visibility.

Designed for urban driving, the Magnite offers ample space for five passengers, thanks to its generous wheelbase. The vehicle is also equipped with Nissan's Around View Monitor, providing a bird's-eye view from four cameras to assist with parking and manoeuvring in tight spaces.
