Volkswagen Motorsport is poised to make an appearance at the Zwartkops Top of the Hill Challenge in Pretoria on October 5. This event features a challenging 2000-metre hill climb that begins at Turn 4 and ascends in reverse to Turn 5.

Mike Rowe, Head of Motorsport at Volkswagen, shared his enthusiasm: “The Top of the Hill Challenge promises an exhilarating experience. We’ll be competing with nine race cars, led by Jonathan Mogotsi’s impressive Hillclimb SupaPolo. Additionally, we have four Volkswagen Rookies who will team up with four motoring journalists for the event.”

Mogotsi, who is keen to tackle the course, noted: "During testing, I found the track to be fast but not overly dependent on speed. I’m excited about the opportunity to challenge some of the larger, more powerful vehicles in the pursuit of a top ten finish.”

Rowe also expressed gratitude towards the Zwartkops organisers for creating a special category for the Rookie Cup cars. “Our Rookies will each pair with a motoring journalist, competing in their own Volkswagen Motorsport Polo Vivo GTs. There will be eight cars on the track, with the Rookies drawing numbers to determine their journalist partners after practice.”

The media representatives competing in the challenge include Brendon Staniforth from Maroela Media, Jacob Moshokoa of cars.co.za, Fanele Bhengu from Isolezwe, and Rebaneilwe Semakane of Reba S on Cars. The event kicks off on Friday, culminating in the highly anticipated final on Saturday.

Fans and motorsport enthusiasts alike can expect an electrifying weekend filled with thrilling competition and exceptional performances.
