- Volkswagen hosts fourth annual HealthCare Run
- More than 1800 runners ran route through Volkswagen’s Plant Kariega
Kariega – The fourth annual Volkswagen HealthCare Run took place on Saturday, 9 May 2026, at the Volkswagen PeoplePavilion in Kariega.
More than 1 800 participants competed in three categories: a 5km fun run, 10km and 21.1km races, with the routes starting and ending at the Volkswagen PeoplePavilion and passing through Volkswagen’s Plant Kariega.
While the VW HealthCare Run is primarily an internal wellbeing initiative for Volkswagen Group Africa (VWGA) employees, it was also extended to the broader Nelson Mandela Bay community, including VWGA employees’ loved-ones. The inclusive approach once again resulted in strong participation across all age groups and fitness levels.
The HealthCare Run is part of a global Volkswagen wellness initiative held across 20 Volkswagen sites worldwide.
VWGA donated R20 000 from the proceeds of the event to Miracle Kids Stimulation Centre. The centre is a Non-Profit Organisation that rehabilitates, stimulates and integrates disabled children into mainstream schools around Nelson Mandela Bay.
The 2026 HealthCare Run forms part of a series of events leading up to Volkswagen’s 75th anniversary celebrations later this year.
“This event continues to grow as a flagship wellbeing initiative for Volkswagen Group Africa,” said Satish Ranchod, HR Director at VWGA. “It promotes healthy lifestyles while strengthening our connection with the communities in which we operate.”
