VWGA plans to expand Ducati's footprint by integrating the brand into three strategic dealer locations in Gauteng, Western Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal. The existing authorised retailer in Gauteng remains, while a new dealership in Cape Town, previously an Audi dealer, has been appointed. Efforts are ongoing to identify a retailer in Durban for KZN.
Nghona further added: “We have set an ambitious growth target for Ducati during its initial two years under VWGA’s stewardship. Our goal is to achieve a double-digit market share in South Africa by the end of 2026. This growth will be fuelled by a range of exciting new models to be introduced over the next two years.”
Tertius Cronje has been appointed to lead Ducati South Africa. Cronje brings 24 years of experience in the automotive retail industry, with a decade spent in motorcycle retail.
Francesco Milicia, Director of Global Sales & Aftersales at Ducati Motor Holding Spa, commented: “South Africa is the perfect environment for our range of motorcycles, whether on track, twisty roads, or gravel. The passion and professionalism of our new partner, Volkswagen Group Africa, will ensure great experiences for our Ducatisti, expanding our presence in the country. South Africa is home to some of the world’s greatest collectors of special cars and bikes, and we look forward to connecting with them.”
