• Astron Energy extends its sponsorship for Volkswagen Polo Cup
  • Polo Cup marks its 30th year of competition in 2026
  • The Polo Cup will showcase performance of Astron Energy’s Quartech fuel while continuing its legacy of discovering the next racing champion

Johannesburg, 13 March 2026 – Astron Energy and Volkswagen Motorsport have strengthened their relationship by partnering on the Volkswagen Polo Cup for another year. The Volkswagen Motorsport and Astron Energy partnership started in 2024.

“Volkswagen Motorsport is incredibly excited to continue its strategic partnership with Astron Energy as a title sponsor of the Volkswagen Polo Cup which celebrates 30 years this year. We look forward to continuing showcasing Astron Energy’s premium Quartech fuel in action on track through our Polo GTI racing cars,” said Mike Rowe, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport.

“The Volkswagen Polo Cup has discovered and nurtured some of South Africa’s most exciting racing talents over the years, with some of the past champions making their names in international motorsport competitions,” added Rowe.

“What makes this partnership so compelling is that the fuel trusted by professionals on the track is the same fuel available to every South African driver at an Astron Energy forecourt. Quartech fuel does not distinguish between a racing driver chasing a podium finish on a racetrack and the everyday motorist navigating the morning rush, it delivers the same quality, protection and performance to both,” said John Bailey, General Manager of Retail and Marketing at Astron Energy.

“The Volkswagen Polo Cup gives us a powerful platform to demonstrate, in the most visible way possible, what our fuel is capable of, and we are proud that the same technology performing on the track is what South Africans are putting in their tanks every day,” said Bailey.

The 2026 Astron Energy Polo Cup forms part of the South African National Championship Extreme Festival with over seven rounds taking place at premier racing circuits across the country. The 2026 season begins at Killarney in Cape Town on 14 March 2026.
