It was something of a bittersweet day for Mike O'Sullivan in the ALL THINGS MOTORING Honda Ballade at the opening round of the 2026 motor racing season at Zwartkops Raceway when he finished third overall in the HTC Class for the day despite coming from the back of the grid twice to lead the field.

In the practice session on the Thursday and Friday before race day, the Honda presented some electrical problems that were resolved in time for him to start on the Saturday and, coming from the back of the grid he artfully weaved his way through the traffic to the front and finished the heat in top spot.

"The car is really going well and after that first heat win the officials put me at the back of the grid for the second heat," he said. "Again it was a great dice to make it through and get to the front but in the final laps the clutch started slipping because the car is now making so much power the clutch just cannot handle it. The result of that was I slipped back to cross the line in third place and secured third overall for the day.

"However, it was great fun and I am pleased with the progress we are making with the car."
