Honda has introduced its latest two-wheeler to the South African market, with the new Activa125 positioned as a practical solution for city commuting and light commercial use. The scooter arrives at a time when fuel prices continue to place pressure on household and business budgets, and Honda says the model has been engineered to address exactly that concern.

At the heart of the Activa125 is Honda’s eSP engine technology, paired with PGM-FI fuel injection. The 123,92cc, four-stroke powerplant produces 6.2 kW at 6 500 r/min and 10,5 Nm of torque, figures that translate into relaxed urban cruising and reliable performance for parcel deliveries or daily errands. The fuel injection system ensures consistent power delivery while the efficient combustion design helps riders cover more distance per litre, a feature that becomes increasingly valuable as fuel costs climb.

The scooter has been built with low running costs in mind. Service intervals are set at 6,000 kilometres, which means fewer trips to the workshop and more time on the road. The automatic transmission removes the learning curve for new riders, making the Activa125 accessible to a broad range of users, from first-time scooter owners to experienced fleet operators.

Honda has equipped the Activa125 with a tough underbone frame, telescopic front suspension and a three-way pre-load adjustable rear hydraulic shock. The braking setup includes a front disc brake and a rear drum, while five-spoke cast wheels with tubeless tyres add to the scooter’s durability on uneven city streets. Ground clearance stands at 162mm, and the seat height of 765mm suits riders of varying statures.

The scooter’s lighting is fully LED, including the headlight and daytime running light, which improves visibility in both daylight and after dark. The instrument cluster combines analogue and digital readouts, allowing riders to check speed, fuel level and other key data without taking their eyes off the road for too long. A 15W USB-C charging port has been included for mobile devices, a practical addition for riders who rely on navigation apps or need to stay connected while on the move.

Honda is backing the Activa125 with its DQR quality assurance programme, which speaks to durability, quality and reliability. The scooter comes with a two-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, offering buyers some reassurance on long-term ownership costs. The model is aimed not only at individual commuters but also at businesses looking to expand delivery fleets without incurring high maintenance or fuel expenses.

The Honda Activa125 will be sold exclusively through select Honda Wing dealerships nationwide. Customers can choose from four colour options: Matt Axis Gray Metallic, Pearl Igneous Black, Pearl Precious White and Pearl Siren Blue. The recommended retail price is R27,999, including VAT.
