Silverstone Circuit
A historic race that brings fans from all over the world together, the British Grand Prix made its debut on the MotoGP™ calendar in 1977. A year that marked the birth of the race on British mainland, the event was held at the Silverstone Circuit, otherwise known as the “home of British motorsport”. The circuit consists of some of the most difficult corners of the motorsports world and speedy stretches that are exceptionally challenging for drivers. With such a long history behind it, the circuit has named different parts of the track after the circuit’s past. This includes the “Wellington straight”, which was named after the base of the Wellington bombers in the circuit during WWII. Built on an aerodrome, the Silverstone Circuit has been modified over the years, and now measures 5.9km in length and features 17 corners that allow riders plenty of opportunities to overtake each other.
