Jetour has priced its new plug-in hybrid SUVs from R689 900, as the Chinese brand officially entered the electrified vehicle segment with the T1 and T2 models. The T1 i-DM launches at R689 900, while the larger T2 i-DM starts at R779 900. Both models are now available at more than 55 dealerships nationwide.

Jetour first arrived in the local market in September 2024 with the petrol-powered Dashing (five-seater) and X70 Plus (seven-seater), followed by the T-series towards the end of last year. The brand says it has sold more than 4 587 T-series units in six months.

The new T1 i-DM and T2 i-DM combine a petrol engine with an intelligent hybrid system, producing combined output of up to 265 kW. Jetour claims a total driving range of more than 1 200 km, with pure electric capability for shorter trips. Fuel consumption is listed from 1,1 l/100 km.

Fast DC charging can take the battery from 30% to 80% in under 30 minutes.

Speaking at the launch event at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, Jetour South Africa vice president Nic Campbell said the plug-in hybrid models help reduce fuel costs in a market where energy prices remain unpredictable.

“From an environmental perspective, these vehicles help reduce carbon emissions,” he says. “PHEVs offer real practical benefit by lowering fuel consumption and helping users reduce their day-to-day running costs.”

The exterior design keeps the boxy, rugged look of the standard T-series, with signature lighting, premium wheels and a panoramic glass roof. Inside, dual screens, wireless charging, ambient lighting and a high-end audio system are included.

Jetour Auto’s Andy Yuan said the company’s ‘Travel+’ strategy remains focused on connecting vehicles to lifestyle needs, with an emphasis on space, comfort and technology.

Monthly sales for Jetour in South Africa have grown from just over 400 units in 2024 to more than 1 700 now. Yuan added that the figure reflects support from local dealers, banks, logistics partners and customers.

Campbell said the i-DM system offers electric efficiency for daily commuting and petrol power for longer trips. “We believe this makes it an especially well-suited solution for the South African market.”
